MajorDuties
As a Health Scientist you will: Perform a variety of scientific activities and analyses related to laboratory science and public health informatics in various public health program areas. Provide expert scientific advice, consultation and leadership in designing, coordinating and maintaining laboratory science and public health informatics project goals, objectives and priorities. Implements scientific policies and procedures on informatics practices and principles. Apply new methods, approaches, and technology to new and unusual situations which have broad applications in the field. Collaborate with and provide expert advice to all organizational levels with the agency, as well as with various state health agencies, and partner organizations. Manage projects involved with public health informatics and serve as a subject matter expert in the design and implementation of IT systems integrating laboratory science and other information from a scientific perspective. Create specialized programs to track and diagnose IT problems and use utility programs to both prevent and recover from IT systems failures. Design, oversee, implement, and conduct scientific surveys/studies or projects to identify and solve health system related problems. Identify and analyze public health issues and their impact on scientific operations that are critical to the public health community at large. Analyze laboratory investigation data utilizing new methodologies or existing techniques that have been extensively revised.
Education
Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the education requirements. Requirements
US Citizenship is required. Background Investigation is required.
