Description:

They say it takes a village to raise a child, for many Pacific peoples, aiga, kaiga, magafaoa, kopu tangata, vuvale, famili, (family) is the most valued part of life and central to maintaining a resilient community. We are seeking to grow our Pasifika staff network in the form of a full-time Health Worker who will become a treasured member of the extended village for families in the West Auckland area.
To better serve and reflect the communities we serve, we are looking to grow our number of Health Workers who are understand and are able to walk alongside families while utilising Pacific knowledge, ways of being and health frameworks. Our vision is aligned with supporting intergenerational change and overcoming the health inequities that are prominent in our communities, why not get paid to be a part of that?

Service, care and warmth – they’re values that transverse the many islands of the Pacific, and its what makes our people excellent Health Workers. We are looking for individuals who listen with empathy and are committed to being the connector between families and Plunket services.
While prior experience in a Health Promotion setting or related qualification would be advantageous, a passion for working with tamaiti and their caregivers is all you need to bring, we will provide you with the training and support to learn the rest. The ability to speak a second language would also be preferable.
Our mahi relies on seamless teamwork - being able to loop in Nurses for clinical support, referring to our community support services for more holistic care, and reminding our whānau that we’re a call away 24/7 through our PlunketLine service - it is vital that you’re confident in working independently but also understanding how to work within a team environment.
Prior experience in working in partnership with vulnerable families from a variety of backgrounds in a supportive and caring manner will be advantageous. In supporting our pro-equity journey, its vital you have an understanding and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi or are able to demonstrate an understanding of what it looks like to support whānau Māori to thrive.

In addition, you will need to:

  • hold and maintain NZ Work rights
  • Committed to completing the National Certificate in Tamariki Ora – Well Child Services programme (Plunket funded)
  • Hold a full, clean New Zealand drivers licence
