Description:

An opportunity has arisen for Health Care Assistants to join our team working within the Urgent care / Care of the Elderly Clinical Support Unit. We are looking for highly motivated, hardworking health care assistants to join established teams, who strive to deliver excellent care.
As a Healthcare Assistant you will assist individual patients with elements of basic nursing care and the implementation of programs of care under the direction of a registered nurse and contribute to the on-going support of patients and their relatives.
You should be able to demonstrate excellent caring and people skills.
You must also demonstrate a good verbal and written command of English, along with excellent communication/ interpersonal skills and a reasonable level of numeracy.
NVQ/Qualification Credit Framework level 2 in care or equivalent and experience working in hospital setting with a care of the elderly focus is essential.
The position covers working over 7 days with long days, nights & weekends. Full-time hours (37.5) although reduced hours would be given consideration for the right candidates.

General Healthcare Responsibilities
Assist individual patients with elements of basic nursing care and the implementation of programmes of care under the direction of a registered nurse.
Contribute to the ongoing support of patients and their relatives.
Contribute to the support of patients in transition from one care setting to another.
Assist with obtaining, transmitting and storing information related to the delivery of a care service. See section regarding Respect for Patient Confidentiality below.
Assist and contribute to the movement and treatment of patients to achieve physical comfort and minimise the adverse effects of pressure according to the prescription of care. Report areas of concern to qualified staff.
Assist individual patients with activities of daily living according to individual needs including personal hygiene, appearance, oral care, fluid and dietary intake.
Develop an understanding of individual patient needs in relation to dietary regimes and fluid intake.
Monitor and record fluid balance and dietary intake. Report areas of concern.
Enable/assist patients to minimise discomfort and pain according to the prescription of care.
Participate in clerical duties as required.
Support qualified staff by carrying out accurate record keeping, taking and relaying verbal and written messages promptly, respecting confidentiality.
The post holder works as part of a Division based on both Trust sites. May be required to work unsocial hours as part of a shift pattern, including nights, evening, weekends and bank holidays.
