Description:

The Stroke Rehab Ward is a 20 bedded facility designed for stroke rehab patients. The unit is responsible for the assessment of patients that present with stroke and neurology symptoms and currently needing further therapy. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to support registered nurses providing cares to rehab stroke patients.
The successful candidate will be dynamic, hardworking, exhibit excellent standards in communication and will be expected to lead and deliver high quality evidence based care. They will possess the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
The post holder will be supported in their professional development and will have the opportunity to develop within the role. In a near future we will be developing a training programme that might give you the opportunity to become a band 3 rehab support worker.
They will be part of the ward based team and be supported with relevant training needs. The role will cover day shifts and may include some night shifts and weekends on a rota basis.
Good team work and communication skills are essential. Individuals should be flexible and be able to demonstrate they are an excellent role model with the ability to develop excellent interpersonal relationships.
Assist individual patients with elements of basic nursing care and the implementation of programmes of care under the direction of a registered nurse.
Assist and contribute to the movement and treatment of patients to achieve physical comfort and minimize the adverse effects of pressure according to the prescription of care. Report areas of concern to qualified staff.
Assist individual patients with activities of daily living according to individual needs including personal hygiene, appearance, oral care, fluid and dietary intake.
Develop an understanding of individual patient needs in relation to dietary regimes and fluid intake.
Support qualified staff by carrying out accurate record keeping, taking and relaying verbal and written messages promptly, respecting confidentiality.
Contribute to minimizing the effect of disruptive, abusive behavior and the protection of individuals from abuse, complying at all times for Health & Safety/Risk Management detailed below.
Undertake routine procedures, which require on the job training, through a local training session, or a combination of instruction and practice for a particular task, where the post-holder completes the task, reporting any concerns to the registered nurse, but there is no ongoing requirement for monitoring or interpretation of results.
