Description:

JOB SUMMARY: Uses data expertise, programing abilities, and critical thinking skills to provide analytic expertise, deliver innovative solutions, and act as a strategic thought partner. Collaborates with Director of Information Technology and Director of Epic Systems to develop data warehouse for current and future uses. Develops systems to automate the contractual and quality reports by developing code to deliver high quality data product. Mentors junior staff by offering project feedback and code review, and leads efforts to assess, recommend, implement, troubleshoot, validate, and interpret results.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree-Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Science, Health Information Management, Actuary required
  • 4-7 years’ experience with using data analysis tools such as SAS, SQL, Tableau, Crystal Reports (or other similar applications), and with building and coding data infrastructure required
  • 3 years’ minimum experience with healthcare data, using electronic health system data and data development required
  • Demonstrated success with using data to influence organization strategy, workflows, or results

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Is responsible for the building and maintenance of the organization’s data warehouse;
  • Collaborates with organizational leaders to develop agencies data warehouse, designing for current and future use;
  • Performs complex data extraction, manipulation, and summarization of large databases to create analytical datasets and provides a range of solutions;
  • Produces dashboards, dynamic reports, and other reporting tools to support management oversight and maintain regulatory controls;
  • Uses a high level of understanding of data sources, flow, and limitations to analyze data to make recommendations for managing healthcare costs, improving quality, and enhancing client and staff experience;
  • Develops and automates reports and processes that appropriately integrate data from multiple sources and maintains datasets and data bases required for routine and special reporting;
  • Combines and transforms data from multiple tables, databases, and/or systems;
  • Trains, mentors, and supports junior members of the analytics team;
  • Under general supervision, performs complex research and analysis of healthcare claims, services, and other related data, to report on network utilization, cost structure, and/or quality;
  • Thinks creatively about how to solve a problem or meet a specific business need, given the data available;
  • Evaluates, writes, presents, and provides recommendations regarding healthcare utilization, quality measure, and cost containment reports;
  • Acts as a strategic partner for investigators to identify key areas and priorities based on analytic insights and data analysis;
  • Performs data validation and peer reviews code and logic as needed;
  • Presents data in a compelling way that highlights the opportunities at hand – whether in making comparisons to benchmarks, pointing out anomalies, displaying trends over time, or using other creative analytical tools;
  • Oversees, leads, and consults on all phases of SAS/SQL/analytical programming, data management, quality control, and reporting;
  • Other related duties as assigned.
