Description:

Would you like to be a part of a highly motivated, diverse, patient orientated laboratory team? If so, we have an opening in the Electron Microscopy unit within the department of Cellular Pathology. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, like-minded individual to support the delivery of services within our exciting University Health Board. If you are interested in laboratory work we would like to hear from you.
This is an excellent position for those with GCSE Science or equivalent, as training and support will be provided to individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required of this support role. In return we expect a commitment to deliver against high standards within our Quality Management System.
The Electron Microscopy unit is a busy unit, providing a service to the whole of wales and beyond. We are part of the the Cellular Pathology Department, which provides a diagnostic service for the City of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan and provides tertiary services including Neuropathology and Foetal Pathology for the larger population of South east Wales and beyond.
Working within the Electron Microscopy unit, you will be an integral part of the cellular pathology team, supporting the Consultant Histopathologists and other members of the team to provide an accurate, and rapid diagnosis of the specimens received, to aide in the treatment of patients.
You will carry out, under supervision by qualified staff, the routine tasks in the laboratory not requiring all the specialist skills or training of an Associate Practitioner or Biomedical Scientist .
Perform basic clinical, technical or scientific laboratory tasks taking responsibility for the completion of tasks in areas of within the unit. This will involve the preparation and subsequent techniques of tissue/fluid samples, while ensuring that results are obtained in an efficient and timely manner.
Follow departmental protocols and procedures to undertake manual and automated techniques within the Department.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
