Our Adult Inpatient Surgical Ward areas are now recruiting we have opportunities based at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, this includes Kingfisher and Falcon Ward.
As part of the surgical division our HCSWs would be supporting the registered nursing teams in providing excellent care for patients undergoing emergency and planned operations or that require specialist nursing care for surgical related health conditions. We specialise in a variety of surgical conditions including colorectal, breast, gynaecology, urology and upper GI.
Full time and part time posts will be considered (part time is a minimum of 23 hours per week) and candidates will need to be able to work a variety of shifts including long days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Experienced health care support workers and those that are new to a caring role are all welcome to apply. You must have good communication skills, have competent IT skills, and have a kind, caring and compassionate nature.
The Trust offers onwards training for HCSWs including working towards the Care Certificate and achieving the competencies required to gain Band 3 status, Maths and English qualifications and the opportunity after a minimum period of 12 months to apply for the Nursing Associate Apprenticeship which if successful leads to a role as a Registered Nursing Associate.

Working as a Healthcare Support Worker in a ward / department within the hospital setting.
Carry out assigned tasks involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients. This will be whilst demonstrating excellent care, compassion and communication, and in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse or Nursing Associate, incorporating:
Continence Management
Nutrition & Hydration
Undertaking and recording of Vital Signs
Moving & Handling of patients to support independence
Infection Prevention and Control
Safeguarding of adults and children.
