Join FLINT as a Heavy Equipment Technician and be part of a dynamic and thriving team. As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in our operations. You will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment, and your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will be essential in ensuring our equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
- Inspect and examine equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
- Use hand and power tools to perform repairs, test repaired equipment for proper performance, and ensure that the work meets manufacturers’ specifications and legislated regulations.
- Read and understand work orders, prepare estimates and interpret technical manuals.
- Large-scale overhauls and rebuilds.
- Relocate/operate heavy equipment to move it within the shop area.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other preventative maintenance work.
- Equipment and facility continuous improvements.
- Interface with customers, products and sales support.
- Provide support with reference to on-site safety requirements.
- Write technical reports and complete paperwork as required.
- Ensure that safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed.
- Work on equipment such as CAT 797 D & F, Liebherr T284 C, Komatsu 930E, CAT 793 C & D, CAT 777, CAT 785, Hitachi 5000, and engines like Cummins, CAT, or MTU4000.
