WHAT YOU BRING
Essentially, we are looking for a trade qualified Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Plant Mechanic whose achieved the relevant experience and understanding of engine rebuild process from start to finish as well as know your ways around taking engine parts out and putting them back together.
To be successful in this role, you will also have strong previous examples that demonstrate your ability to manage teams and projects, working in a multiskilled team environment as well a positive attitude toward uncompromising safety and changes.
It is desirable (not compulsory) also if you have:
- Forklift ticket.
- Elevated Work Platform ticket.
- Working at Heights ticket.
- Working in Confined Spaces ticket
Responsibilities:
As part of the asset maintenance team, our Diesel / Heavy Plant Mechanics play a vital part in the maintenance and repair of vessels within Transdev Sydney Ferries. Your day will start with our pre-start toolbox talk where you will be informed of your current work orders and allocation of prioritised tasks.
Working in our state-of-the-art Balmain Shipyard, you will work as a subject matter expert and maintain all mechanical equipment including various diesel engines rebuild and overhaul (Yanmar, Scania, Detroit, Caterpillar, etc..), gearboxes (Twin Disc & ZF), clutches, couplings, bearings, valves, and pumps. You will also be working closely with our Production Managers to assess work orders and ensure the relevant equipment/parts are in stock and to maximise our vessel maintenance effectiveness especially with time sensitive activities. As such your required to attend to call-in duties for breakdown maintenance as required.
As part of your growth, you will have the opportunity to impart your knowledge and provide training and support to other team members (i.e., apprentices and trade assistants, etc..) as well as assist with other general maintenance duties around the Shipyard as required by Production Managers.
