Description:

HGV TECHNICIAN

Location: Loughborough
Salary: £42,000 per annum
Hours: 45.5 hours - Early shift (6am-3:30pm) or Late shift (12pm-9:30pm) Monday - Friday + alternate Saturday mornings
Job Purpose: Join a dynamic team dedicated to delivering exceptional vehicle maintenance services with a focus on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. As a HGV Technician, your role is integral in ensuring optimal performance of a diverse fleet of vehicles, adhering to industry standards and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical qualification relating to commercial vehicles - NVQ Level 3 qualification or City and Guilds Level 3, or equivalent, with extensive vehicle knowledge and experience.
  • Full UK Driving Licence

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Broad understanding of commercial vehicles in a rental environment
  • Experience in using R2C
  • In-depth knowledge of current health & safety legislation.
  • Proven ability to perform cost-effective and secure repairs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ensuring effective solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers in line with DVSA standards
  • Write up job cards and return parts correctly
  • Carry out thorough vehicle inspections, repairs, and services within specified deadlines, following manufacturers’ guidelines and legislative requirements.
  • Adhere to company processes for service reporting, documentation, and electronic job sheets, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strictly follow safety regulations, processes, and procedures, reporting incidents or near-miss occurrences as needed.
  • Provide mentorship to apprentice technicians, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current with evolving industry standards and legislative requirements.
