Description:

This post is an exciting opportunity to join the Inpatient Rehabilitation Team at St Pancras Rehabilitation Unit.
You will be responsible for a providing specialist stroke and neurological rehabilitation. You will work closely with the other Band 7 AHP staff ( e.g. Neuro Physiotherapy Pathway Coordinator, General Rehabilitation Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and the wider Integrated Multidisciplinary Team.
The inpatient multi-pathology bedded unit has 53 beds, within which clients with a wide range of conditions are supported to engage in rehabilitation by a highly skilled MDT. The unit has strong links with community partners and the NCL Intermediate Care bed base.
The MDT and Physiotherapy team embrace innovative evidence based practice. As a service we work in partnership with patients and their families /carers and encourage self – management activities at all stages in the patient journey. You will benefit from the experience and support offered by this highly integrated service. You will support intensive therapy intervention for patients with both Level2 (6 beds) and Level 3 (17 beds) neurological rehabilitation needs and.

We are looking for a highly skilled Specialist Inpatient Physiotherapist with significant experience working in the field of neurology and stroke.
A genuine interest in continuing to develop skills and experience in this field is essential for the role. You must be able to work flexibly according to service needs and have excellent organisational, time management and communication skills. The team is based at St. Rehabilitation Unit, situated close to the amenities and transport links of Kings Cross and Camden.
Through our 24-hour rehabilitation ethos, our skilled team aims to empower our patients to achieve goals that are meaningful to them, in the face of illness, injury or disability.

To support delivery of Inpatient rehabilitation Neurological Physiotherapy to patients within the unit.
To promote, maintain and further develop a high quality, efficient and effective Neurological and Complex rehabilitation Physiotherapy Service, within in a multi-disciplinary context and in accordance with the philosophy and operational policies for the Unit and Organisation.
To provide advanced Physiotherapy assessment and intervention of patients with both complex and neurological conditions ensuring that self-management activities are introduced as early as possible within the rehabilitation pathway.
The post holder is expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team.
To be responsible for the supervision and monitoring of junior staff, including Band 6 and Band 5 PT’s, Rehabilitation Health Care Assistants and PT students. Cross-disciple working to assist with supervision and monitoring of staff from other professions may be required, promoting a 24 hour rehab approach.
To maintain Continuing Professional Development for self and encourage in junior staff supervised.
To be the clinical lead for the Neurology in-service training for Physiotherapists and other team members.
To educate, train, liaise with and provide specialist advice to other agencies such as GP’s, consultants, nurses and any other discipline who are involved in patient care
Undertake evidence–based audit and research projects, in order to make recommendations for changes in own and team’s clinical practice at both a PT and MDT level
