Description:

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced physiotherapist who will provide clinical leadership to the respiratory therapy team working in the acute hospital.
Dorset County Hospital is currently going through development of the Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit with increased bed capacity. To support this expansion we require an expert clinical lead to assist in maintaining the quality service we provide to our adult critical care population - during their stay on critical care , in their recovery period onto the wards and on discharge from hospital.
We are a multi-disciplinary team comprising of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Apprentices and Therapy Assistants. We work closely with our Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Respiratory Out-patient colleagues to provide a seamless service across the respiratory pathway.
We promote education and service development and use our connections with Bournemouth University, AECC University College, Thames Valley and Wessex Critical Care Network and surrounding Trusts to ensure we are delivering the best care and service to our population.
The post holder will be an experienced physiotherapist with an specialist interest in critical care and acute respiratory management.
The post holder works alongside the team lead and supervises the day to day running of the team
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties and to carry a significant caseload of patients as an autonomous practitioner, including those with complex presentations.
To work at an advanced level and to be professionally and legally accountable for a highly specialised patient caseload and to decide priorities for own work area, balancing other patient related and professional demands.
To coordinate a rolling programme of education, clinical evaluation, audit and research within the acute respiratory pathway at DCH
To be an active participant on the respiratory weekend rota
To facilitate the implementation and evaluation of physiotherapy clinical outcomes within a designated pathway and monitor adherence with professional and national standards

The area is largely rural, with good rail and road links. The closest airport is situated in Bournemouth.
