Description:

As a result of increased funding we have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative and dynamic Speech and Language Therapist to join our Stroke service within Acute Inpatients at Bradford Royal Infirmary. This is a unique opportunity to work across the Stroke pathway including on the acute and rehab wards as well as being at the forefront of setting up the SALT ESD service.
Our inpatient service covers all adult acute wards including Stroke, Neurology, Critical care, Respiratory, Surgical and medical admissions. We benefit from positive working relationships with all members of the MDT including our joint-videofluoroscopy clinics in which we use the MBSImp protocol. We have an established FEES service within the Macmillan Head & Neck team and are in the beginning stages of developing FEES across Acute and Critical care services.
To deliver in this role, you will have significant experience in working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders. You will also have experience of operational management duties including supervision of newly qualified speech and language therapists, students as well as assistants. Leadership and management experience and skills are desirable however training in all these areas can be provided to achieve these competencies. Skills in videofluoroscopy assessment and FEES are desirable.
We are looking for a team member who is a team player with a ‘can do’ approach and dedicated to providing high quality care to patients as well as committed to their own development. We have a strong focus on service and clinical development and all our team members are supported to upskill in order to develop specialist roles.
We are a well-established, supportive and friendly team with staff wellbeing at the forefront of team development. This is achieved through a strong pastoral care approach to management. As part of the service, you will benefit from peer support and clinical supervision within the wider inpatient team.
At Bradford Teaching Hospitals we’re passionate about providing outstanding care for the people of the Bradford district and communities across the North of England. We’re keen to meet people interested in sharing our passion and helping us continue to deliver the highest quality of care to our patients.
We’re a renowned teaching hospital trust at the forefront of research, education and development, with a state-of-the-art simulation and skills training centre on site.
In short, we can help you lift your career to the next level. We’ve received huge investment to improve patient care which means we have truly world-class facilities including a brand-new neonatal suite, state-of-the-art intensive care unit, a newly refurbished A&E department, new children’s unit and a welcoming, modern atrium and reception area for staff and visitors.
