We are looking for a team member with attention to detail and an ability to prioritise. They will be driven to improve our service and committed to the highest standards.
A robust team player, with a flexible approach, keen to support colleagues working in our friendly and busy team.
Exceptional communication and computer skills are required for this role and you’ll share our values building good working relationships with colleagues across Dorset Highways and the wider Council.
Training will be provided, but we would like someone with skills which are transferable to this role and a willingness to learn quickly with the support of your colleagues.
The successful candidate will require a driving licence and be able to travel to the Charminster depot, where the team is based, as well as one of the other highways depots (Gibbs Marsh, Ferndown, Bridport).

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you an enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritise tasks and solve problems? If so, this is your opportunity to make a difference to your community by joining the award-winning Dorset Highways.
We are looking for a positive individual to work as part of a small team of schedulers within Dorset Highways business support. You will share our values and support our vision of ‘Moving Dorset Ahead’.
You will have the opportunity to work within a specific area of the county, getting to know the teams, and, as we genuinely believe in developing our staff, once you are confident in your role, you will have the opportunity to visit other teams to understand how their roles fit in with yours. The team has an ethos of continuous improvement, with everyone’s ideas welcome as to how the team can be better at what they do.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Your main focus will be to liaise between site agents, operational staff and the traffic team to schedule, permit and complete essential paperwork to ensure that the roads of Dorset are repaired and made safe for the public. You will also deputise for other team members when needed.
Collaboration is key to the successful delivery of Dorset Highways’ work, and you will take responsibility for prioritising your work to meet tight deadlines, often needing to react quickly to operational changes.
