JOB SUMMARY:

Abstracts and assign diagnoses and procedure codes for the medical records of discharged patients, including inpatients, day surgery, observation, and outpatient records using ICD 10 and CPT-4 classification systems and 3M encoder software for Grouper determination.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing required.
• High School Diploma
• Must be a graduate of an AHIMA accredited program with completion of the CCS/RHIT/RHIA programs including the successful completion of the registration exam.
• 1-2 experience in an Acute Care hospital setting preferred
• CCS required or within acceptable timeframe after completion of program; RHIT/RHIA preferred
• Meditech Experience preferred.
