Description:

EPR Application Analyst - Ambulatory (Outpatients) Team
Be the link between leading-edge medical software and an outstanding NHS Trust.
Under the direction of your line manager, you will assist with analysing and documenting current and future workflows, and either match these to those already built into the EPR system or facilitate agreement for changes in working practice. You will support with the modification of the EPR system using software configuration tools, so it works effectively for our patients.
You will support other EPR module teams in integrated areas which requires close collaborative working with other EPR and Trust teams. You will assist your line manager to upgrade, test, fix and configure the system thoroughly to ensure that it is safe, usable, secure and robust and that it works as expected. You will provide support to end-users using your application knowledge through regular meetings and through incident investigation and resolution.
MFT’s Digital Team
Joining the digital service puts you at the heart of the Trust’s digital enablement journey. The implementation of the Hive Electronic Patients Record (EPR), powered by EPIC, in September 2022, which was the biggest of its kind in the UK at that time, was the first step in realising the MFT vision of a ‘Digital First’ organisation and significantly increases the Trust’s capability to unleash the power of data, through its ability to capture high quality/volume acute clinical and non-clinical services data and to exploit this data to catalyse digital transformation and support improved patient care.
As a member of the digital team you will directly support the organisation to deliver and improve clinical quality, patient and staff experience, operational effectiveness, and research. We’re proud of the positive impact we make every day to the lives of our colleagues and our patients and we’re excited to offer you the opportunity to join our team.
MFT is one of the largest NHS Trust In England with a turnover of £2.6bn, but the Trust’s distinction lies not merely in our size but in the passion and dedication of our staff, the strength of our partnerships across health and social care, and the diverse range of services we uniquely provide.
We provide integrated community care to people in Manchester and Trafford through our Local Care Organisations and Integrated Neighbourhood Teams. We provide local hospital services to almost one million people, including accident and emergency, diagnostic tests, outpatient appointments and day case surgery. We are the biggest provider of specialised services in England, which includes major surgery and highly specialised medicine. People come from across the United Kingdom to receive care at our hospitals. Our teams support people with both their physical and mental health, including mental health services for children and young people.
Bringing together ten hospitals & community services from across Manchester, Trafford & beyond, we champion collaborative working & transformation, encouraging our workforce to pursue their most ambitious goals. We set standards that other Trusts seek to emulate.
At MFT, we create and foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, provide equal opportunities for career development that are fair, open, and transparent, protecting your health and wellbeing and shaping the future of our organisation together.
As an EPR Application Analyst, you’ll work under the direction of your line manager to design and configure EPR modules and adapt them to our working practices and standards. Your work will be a vital link between the new technology and our services and will ensure our transition to Hive is a success.
You’ll work closely with our staff to analyse our current processes, then agree on clinical and operational standards and future workflows to be incorporated into Epic, the software that runs Hive. To make sure our systems meet operational and auditing requirements, you’ll also collaborate with our Business Intelligence team.
As a central member of the project, you’ll be required to support engagement with clinicians and other staff related to your module. But there are also opportunities to work with other EPR module teams across testing, security, user support and medical device integration. As part of your EPR training, you’ll also receive recognised qualifications in an application module.
Required skills and experience
We’re looking for candidates with clinical or operational experience in the NHS. You’ll be a talented communicator who can make complex issues easy to understand – you might also have experience in analysing business and technical requirements or even training in Epic software, but what’s essential is strong IT skills, an eye for detail and a sense of strategy.
You’ll also need a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. A project management or relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred, but not essential.
To find out more about the key responsibilities and the specific skills and experience you’ll need, take a look at the Job Description & Person Specification attachments under the ‘Supporting Documents’ heading. So that you’re even more equipped to make an informed decision to apply to us, you’ll need to take time to read the ‘ Candidate Essentials Guide’ that sits with the Job Description and Person Specification. This document provides you with details about the Trust, our benefits and outlines how ‘we care for you as you care for others’. Most importantly, it also contains critical information you’ll need to be aware of before you submit an application form.
Diversity Matters
MFT is committed to promoting equality of opportunity, celebrating and valuing diversity and eliminating any form of unlawful discrimination across our workforce, ensuring our people are truly representative of the communities we serve. All individuals regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation are encouraged to apply for this post. As an inclusive employer, we are here to support you. If you have any special requirements to help you with your application, email our team at resourcing@mft.nhs.uk .
We’re looking forward to hearing from you
