Due to a rapid increase in numbers Homai Kindergarten is seeking an additional teacher to join our dedicated, nurturing team.
This is a full time position (40 hours per week) in an established and well-resourced Kindergarten in the Manurewa area. The Kindergarten caters for children 2-5 years old in mixed age sessions from 8.00am – 5.00pm, including term breaks. There is occupancy for 40 tamariki and a 1:10 teacher to child ratio.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated teacher to join this team in an actively buzzing centre where your sound knowledge of ECE curriculum practices, relationship building skills, energy and passion for teaching our young learners will be reciprocated and rewarded.
We are looking for a Kaiako who is versatile and a great communicator, who is willing and proactive around change and has a commitment to professional development and on-going learning. As a valued team member you will be welcomed into a team connected to the attending wider community. You will enjoy working closely with whānau and supporting active children from diverse backgrounds. Homai Kindergarten enjoys strong community links and the team is engaged in a number of community initiatives within the Manurewa area to support our tamariki and whānau.

Responsibilities:

  • B Ed/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) and current teacher registration/certification
  • Good understanding of child led curriculum, planning and extending on our children’s learning
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whariki and hold compliance in a high regard
  • Knowledge and experience using He Māpuna te Tamaiti and He Kōrerorero
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with Tamariki, Whanau, teaching team and the wider community
  • Passion and commitment for teaching and learning with a focus on delivering quality education and care
