ABOUT US

Leipzig International School gGmbH is a non-profit, independent educational institution that operates a kindergarten as well as an all-day school with a primary school with integrated after-school care and a secondary school. At present, nearly 1100 students from local and international families study at our institution from the age of one until they reach university entrance qualifications. The teaching language is English. German is taught as a compulsory subject. Our concept focuses on global-openness, internationality, and diversity, and thus on our overall motto “Learning to be a citizen of the world”. Our 250 staff members from 37 nations work together to create a stimulating and interesting learning environment for all children and students. The students are thus supported and accompanied from their first steps in this world to applying for training and university places and beyond. Since 2014, Leipzig International has been located at two sites: the primary school and secondary school (grades 1 to 12) are located at Könneritzstraße 47 / Schleußig, the Leipzig International Kindergarten at Karl-Heine-Straße 95 / Plagwitz. Furthermore, there is the Käferhaus at Gleisstraße 1 / Schleußig, a day-care centre run by Leipziger Kindergarten gGmbH, a subsidiary of Leipzig International School gGmbH.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Hort Leader reports to the Head of School and is responsible for Hort and Holiday Hort, as well as the positive development of primary students whilst promoting an environment where all students feel safe, secure and valued. Together with the Primary School Principal, s/he oversees the Educator in Class (EiC) programme.
The Hort Leader is the direct line manager for the Hort team members. S/he is a member of the School Management team and, as such, shares responsibility for the school as a whole. The Hort Leader is accountable to the Head of School, with whom s/he meets regularly, keeping him/her informed about decisions and developments in the Hort. The Head of School may assign additional duties and responsibilities consistent with the qualifications and the position.

EXERCISE OF DUTIES

• Perform in accordance with any direction that may reasonably be given by the Head of School, such duties as may reasonably assigned in order to achieve all elements in this job description, or any other duties deemed to be in the interest of the students or the school in genera.
• Maintain a personal, up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements concerning Hort programming as well as Saxony’s Educational Curriculum for Kindergarten.
