Eastern Iowa Health Center (EIHC) is seeking an OB/GYN Hospitalist to join our team.

REQIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Current State of Iowa medical license required or ability to achieve same in a short period of time required.
  • Iowa Certificate of Controlled Substances, Federal DEA, and current CPR certification.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates patients in triage on Labor & Delivery or emergency department, admitting patients as needed.
  • Manages, and delivers obstetrical patients including, VBAC, C-sections, and other surgeries.
  • Rounds on hospitalized, antepartum, and post-operative patients.
  • Provides inpatient, emergency department consultations and APP oversight/consults.
  • Covers all Emergency Room call coverage for EIHC OB/GYN.
  • Covers OB/GYN patient triage, care management and transfer when appropriate at the hospital’s Emergency Department.
  • Provide call coverage and L&D support: interpretation of EFM strips, stand-by for deliveries, perform amniotomies & sonograms, IUPC/FSE placement and indicated procedures.
  • Function as a member and leader of the OB Rapid Response Team.
  • Enforce quality metrics and evidence-based medicine.
  • Utilizes complex strategies, interventions and teaching to promote, maintain, and improve health and prevent illness and injury.
  • Uses strategies based on assessment of risks, learning theory, epidemiological principles and client’s health beliefs and practices.
