POSITION SUMMARY:

The Hospitality Services Coordinator is a pivotal role within the ROM, reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President of Event Sales. This dynamic position offers the unique opportunity to oversee the entire lifecycle of events, from the initial setup through to the closing stages. The Coordinator is instrumental in leveraging the ROM’s Sales and liquor sales programs to enhance revenue streams, all while maintaining strict adherence to the highest standards of service, as mandated by Toronto Board of Health and AGCO guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A diploma in Hospitality Management or a related field from an accredited college, complemented by a certification in mixology. Alternative combinations of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Current certifications in Responsible Alcohol Service (Smart Serve) and Food Safety (Food Handlers Certificate), reflecting a commitment to upholding safety and compliance standards in the hospitality industry.
  • At least three years of professional experience in hospitality, specifically in roles related to event catering, banquet services, or bartending, evidencing a capability to excel in service delivery within dynamic settings.
  • Outstanding ability to enhance guest satisfaction and drive revenue by understanding and responding to client needs, all within the framework of regulatory compliance for alcohol sales and food service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across various levels, ensuring clear understanding and execution of event protocols, and the efficient management of multiple priorities within specified timelines.
  • Proficiency in contemporary digital tools and platforms for word processing and event management, facilitating efficient operation and administration.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the operational needs of events and engagements.
  • Proficiency in additional languages, particulary French, is highly desirable, enabling more inclusive communication and service provision in a multicultural environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of external and internal events at the ROM, overseeing all aspects from setup to strike, ensuring each event runs smoothly and meets client expectations.
  • Skillfully implement ROM Sales and liquor sales strategies to boost the financial outcomes of the Programs, Events & Commercial Services Department and Special Events Services division.
  • Vigilantly uphold food and beverage service standards in line with Toronto Board of Health and AGCO by-laws, contributing to the ROM’s reputation for excellence.
  • Conduct precise post-event accounting for beverage consumption, enabling accurate inventory management and financial reporting.
  • Promptly report any issues relating to banquet inventories and ROM property to the Supervisor, ensuring the integrity and quality of equipment and safeguarding ROM collections and assets.
  • Maintain a keen eye on the condition of equipment and the safety of collections, personnel, property, clients, and contractors, embodying the ROM’s commitment to excellence and safety.
  • Proactively address potential client concerns, especially relating to inappropriate behavior or excessive alcohol consumption, to uphold the ROM’s standards and ensure a safe, enjoyable environment for all.
