About the Role

  • Provision of inpatient care including:
  • Participate in patient history taking and diagnosis, including ordering relevant tests.
  • Participate in the development of patients’ treatment and development plans.
  • Participate in the provision of emergency treatment to patients.
  • Ensure treatment orders are appropriately documented (including medications and general management plans).
  • Develop discharge summaries for patients in a timely manner.
  • Access appropriate information regarding consent for operations and procedures and appropriately inform the patient of this information.
  • Access information to enhance the quality of patient care e.g. accessing information on patients’ medications.
  • Organise patient consultation with medical and interprofessional disciplinary teams as necessary. Working collaboratively with other members of the interprofessional team.
  • Review patient’s progress as necessary and consult with senior team members.
  • Ensure timely, effective and appropriate clinical handover with other staff and healthcare providers.
  • Develop a clear understanding of the role and the roles of those in other professions and use this knowledge appropriately to establish consumer goals and to achieve streamlined consumer care.
  • Maintain high level interpersonal, communication, conflict management and negotiation skills with members of the health care team, patients/residents/clients and visitors to the service.
