Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

This post is responsible for the replenishing and maintenance of Emergency Department (ED) supplies, cleaning of patient equipment, safe handling and disposal of linen, safe handling and disposal of sharps, safe handling and disposal of waste, hand hygiene facilities and the general environment.

TRAINING

  • The post holder will be given in-service training regarding hospital policies. The clinical Nurse Managers will undertake this responsibility and will deal with the day to day issues and problems which may arise.
  • This training will include instruction in relation to infection control, the use of disinfectants and chemical agents and the correct disposal of linen and waste.
  • Attend hospital based hand hygiene and standard precautions training annually.
  • Attend fire Safety Handling
  • Attend any further training deemed necessary by the Clinical Nurse Manager.
  • Annually professional development and assessment is carried out by the Clinical Nurse Manager
