Description:

The Housekeeping Supervisor ensures our guest accommodation and all areas front and back of house are maintained in a spotless condition at all times. With a hands-on approach, you’ll orchestrate the day -to-day operations of our Housekeeping Department, meticulously planning cleaning schedules and working closely with our Front Office team to ensure that guest accommodations are prepared to the highest standards, right on time. You’ll also play a pivotal role in training and supervising our dedicated housekeeping staff, ensuring that they deliver nothing short of excellence with every task. WAGE: $20-$22/hr., depending on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide leadership support and be readily accessible to staff.
  • Supervise the housekeeping employees to attract, retain and motivate them while providing a safe work environment.
  • Manage the interviewing, scheduling, training, development, empowerment, coaching and counseling of staff.
  • Conduct performance and salary reviews and recommend discipline and termination of staff when necessary.
  • Conduct training and coaching sessions on chemical usage, departmental policies, and the various components of the Hay Adams Standards of Excellence.
  • Respond to and follow through on guest requests, concerns and problems.
  • Prepare staff work schedules based on present and anticipated occupancy levels and union guidelines.
  • Prepare payroll to include extra earnings.
  • Primarily responsible for the operation of the department in the absence of the Director of Housekeeping and/or Assistant Housekeeping Manager.
  • Review current standards, property and industry-wide, and makes recommendations for review or change.
  • Assists in the inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Assists in the investigation of new and improved cleaning instruments and methods.
  • Perform other functions as required and directed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous housekeeping supervisory or management experience in a hotel is preferred.
  • Ability to work on your feet, walk, climb stairs, lift, bend and stretch throughout the course of the entire scheduled shift.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to evaluate and improve the performance of others.
  • Ability to provide clear direction and guidance to team members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to team members - Bi-Lingual language skills are a plus!

EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Previous supervisory or managerial experience

Preferred

  • Hotel experience
  • 2 year(s): Previous housekeeping experience
