ABOUT YOU

You will hold a GCSE (grade A-C) level English and Maths, or equivalent, and have a flexible approach to work, with a friendly ‘can do’ attitude and a willingness to integrate into and effectively support the administrative team. Excellent communication skills, in writing and in person, with the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels, to work under pressure, while meeting strict deadlines and maintaining excellent attention to detail. Excellent organisational skills, the ability to manage multiple work streams and prioritise as necessary, is also essential. Experience of working in an HR team/ HR role, and experience of working with PeopleXD, or a similar HR information system in a large organisation, would be desirable.

Responsibilities:

We have an exciting opportunity for a 12-month part-time, fixed-term appointment for a HR and General Administrative Assistant to cover the secondment of the current post-holder. The successful candidate will work at the Faculty of History, George Street, Oxford.
The HR and General Administrative Assistant will work as part of a small team providing flexible HR and administrative support for the Faculty. The appointee will have particular responsibility for managing the administration of the casual appointment processes (including the preparation of casual letters of engagement, carrying out right to work checks, monthly timesheet administration), and be in charge of the completion of monthly payroll changes for casual staff, updating PeopleXD as required, adhering to the University’s deadlines, and ensuring that the correct funds are utilised. They will also assist the HR Manager in supporting the work of the Faculty Board’s Equality and Diversity Committee and its working groups on gender, race and disability, while also working as part of a team providing reception and front of house cover as required.
