HR Assistant (12 Month Term)

We are excited to announce an opening for a Human Resources Assistant with our client, Taylor McCaffrey LLP, from April 2024 to June 2025, with potential for a permanent role following the term.
As the HR Assistant, you will collaborate closely with the Director of Human Resources, the Pay and Benefits Administrator, and the Learning and Development Coordinator. Your responsibilities will encompass various administrative and HR functions, including recruitment and staffing, record maintenance, payroll and benefits processing, as well as the administration of human resource policies, processes, and document management.

The Human Resources Assistant is Responsible For:

  • Providing administrative support for the day-to-day operations of the HR team.
  • Processing documentation/firm member records and preparing reports related to HR activities.
  • Responding to firm member requests regarding human resources issues, policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Working towards improving company policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with planning and coordinating staff and appreciation events.
  • Assisting with the recruitment process by identifying and screening candidates, interviewing, performing reference checks and issuing employment contracts.
  • Coordinating employment offers, on-boarding processes, benefit documentation and orientation/training.
  • Assisting with managing the Health and Safety procedures.
  • Assisting in payroll preparation by providing relevant data for processing.
  • Maintaining vacation, sick day and other records.
  • Completing termination paperwork and exit interviews.

You and Your Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or certification in human resources or related experience.
  • Administrative experience is required; Experience in HR is preferred.
  • Experience in the legal industry is an asset.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with HR/payroll software such as Payworks.
  • Knowledge of employment and labour laws, HR functions, best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong and creative problem-solving skills.
