The HR Business Advisor - Operations reports to the Director, Human Resources - Operations, and plays a crucial role in delivering a comprehensive and proactive HR service to the Operational Excellence employees. This includes supporting and leading HR programs and policies, performance management, talent development, employee relations, and HR project support. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, articulate communicator and relationship builder who can multi-task and adapt to changing priorities and initiatives. The role involves interacting with employees at all levels and partnering with Managers and other leaders within the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of progressive HR experience in a corporate environment.
  • University Degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of provincial and federal HR legislation, HR policies and HR best practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and a high level of professionalism.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality; show tact, diplomacy and discretion in handling information of confidential and/or sensitive nature.
  • Ability to allocate time effectively, work under pressure and manage tight and multiple deadlines.
  • Well versed in all Microsoft Office programs,
  • Experience with HRIS system (Workday) and LMS systems is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactive HR Support and Advice: Provide proactive HR support and advice to employees and managers on various policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Business Advisory: Equip managers with the proper tools, knowledge, and support to solve problems and mitigate risk while enhancing the employee experience.
  • Relationship Building: Develop internal business knowledge and build strong relationships to function as a credible, trusted advisor across all levels of the internal client base.
  • HR Projects and Initiatives: deliver on HR projects and initiatives that align with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Employee Relations: Advise and coach managers on employee relations matters, including identifying risks, disciplinary actions, employee investigations, and performance improvement planning.
  • Performance and Development: Foster meaningful performance and development discussions with managers.
  • Disability and Leave Management: Collaborate with the Benefits team to support disability management and the employee leave process.
  • Performance and Compensation: Work alongside HR leadership and Total Rewards teams to support the performance and compensation review process, provide guidance on employee salary ranges, and analyze external market data against internal benchmarks.
  • Mentorship: Provide support and mentorship to HR Coordinators.
