Description:

HR BUSINESS PARTNER - EDINBURGH

We are Lothian - Edinburgh’s principal transport provider – and we’ve been here, serving our communities, for over a century. So, if you’re looking to join a company that lies at the heart of a community, we’re looking for an experienced HR Business Partner!
We have over 2,500 colleagues and our dedicated HR Team of 8 provides advice, support and guidance on all things HR including contracts, policies, people development, HR projects and ER casework such as disciplinaries, grievances and absence management. We have HR colleagues based on-site in our depots 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) and whilst you will initially be mainly based at our Marine depot, you will also be required to travel to other depots regularly. Our depots are busy, fun and bustling places to be and being depot-based means you’ll forge strong partnerships with our depot management teams, our engineering managers, our drivers and our colleagues who support the depot.
2024 is an exciting year for us as we’ve launched our new Business Plan and continue to drive Lothian forward. We have some exciting people objectives to achieve and as part of the HR Team, you’ll play your part in helping us deliver these.
As one of three HR Business Partners, you’ll provide robust and practical HR advice. You’ll have our suite of employment policies and management procedures to guide you, as well as the support of your HR colleagues.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive Employee Relations experience, managing complex and sensitive cases.
  • Demonstrable experience drafting and updating appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrable experience developing, designing and delivering training to managers and employees.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to act as a trusted advisor and take responsibility for core HR processes, building rapport and relationships with internal stakeholders, and exploring HR matters thoroughly.
  • The ability to manage a busy workload and conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to develop and sustain our reputation for providing a friendly, proactive and supportive HR service.
  • You’ll be CIPD qualified (minimum level 3) backed up by a wealth of generalist HR experience.
  • You’ll ideally have experience in a fast paced operational and unionised environment.
We are looking for a proactive team player to join our strong and supportive HR Team so please apply with your CV and cover letter by no later than Sunday 21st April 2024. Please note that applications will be considered on an ongoing basis.
