Description:
POSITION FUNCTION:
The HR Business Partner will be the key point of contact for employees and managers located
in our BC locations which include sites in Langley , Surrey and Burnaby. In this role you will be
the key point of contact for all HR activities and will be responsible for providing day to day HR
support on issues such as attendance/time management, employee relations, and performance
management. In addition, this role will be responsible for supporting the recruitment activities
for both salaried and hourly positions.
This position will report to the Vice President of Human Resources located in Ontario but will be
accountable to the General Manager for the region on a daily basis. As of May, 2024 our
Surrey location will move to Delta. This role can be primarily based out of either Langley or
Delta but will require weekly travel to the other locations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Talent Acquisition:
- Work with managers to identify hiring needs and prepare the requisition and job
description for posting
- Coordinate all hiring activity for sites and ensure a consistent approach across the
organization
- Conduct pre-screening, organize interviews and participate with leaders to help identify
talent for key roles
- Assist in managing temporary/contract staff at sites; liaise with agency partners as
required
- Prepare all offer paperwork, complete reference/background checks
- Working with Payroll to ensure all new hire paperwork is completed and employees set
up is correct in Ceridian for proper payroll processing
- Working with Health and Safety, facilitate orientation session for all new hires
- In conjunction with HR team, identify new sourcing strategies, job fairs and job boards
to increase exposure and branding in local markets
- Support student/coop and temporary hiring activities as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources management combined with a minimum of 5
years of HR generalist experience including talent acquisition, coaching,
- Minimum of 2 years experience managing high volume recruitment activities, including
preparing job descriptions, sourcing talent and interviewing
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred
- Demonstrated experience coaching leaders to address issues associated with
performance, attendance or general conduct
- Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
- Demonstrated experience with public speaking and/or facilitation is preferred
- Work effectively with all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated knowledge of BC HR law, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights
legislation
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Highly confidential with personal and sensitive information
- Systems savvy, familiarity with Ceridian Dayforce an asset
- Experience working in a decentralized HR environment preferred
