QUALIFICATIONS

In order to be qualified, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
Education & Experience:
o Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred but not required;
o Minimum three years of human resource experience
o Familiar with UKG Software is an asset
Skills and abilities:
o Be able to deal with any general employee inquiries, regardless of their attitude
o Interact with employees & managers and respond to their inquiries in a calm, courteous and efficient manner
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Significant knowledge of the hiring process
o Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
o Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
o Knowledge about conflict management
o Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
o Computer literacy

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE:

The HR Generalist will play an important role in supporting the various HR functions with the organization. The role requires a versatile individual with comprehensive understanding of HR policies and procedures, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks ranging from recruitment to employee relations. This position reports to the Director of HR & Payroll.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

HR Administration:
o Maintain accurate employee records, including personnel files, benefit information, Union grievance, disciplinary files, performance files, and HR databases / systems
o Process employee status and information changes
o Prepare and distribute HR-related correspondence, such as letters, contracts, reference, and internal communications
o Prepare reports and statistics as required by legislation or corporate
Recruiting, Onboarding, Offboarding:
o Coordinate the posting and advertising of new job positions
o Monitor the intake of onboarding paperwork for accuracy and completeness
o Provide support to terminal and department managers as needed on the recruiting, onboarding, or offboarding processes
o Participate in the ongoing review and development of the onboarding process, including orientation and training
o Conduct exit interviews as required
Employee Relations:
o Be available to assist employees with any HR related questions
Performance Management:
o Assist in the development and ongoing process of performance management throughout the organization
o Assist managers in identifying performance improvement opportunities and developing appropriate actions plans
Workplace Injury Management:
o Participate in the management of workplace injury files, including review of initial reports for accuracy, reporting to the appropriate regulatory organization, and providing updates internal or to third party consultants as required
o Be the first point of contact for internal queries regarding work related injuries
HR Compliance:
o Stay current with the appropriate labour laws and regulations
o Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
o Participate in the management of compliance training to ensure employees have completed necessary requirements
Other:
o Attend ongoing HR meetings as scheduled
o Be involved in safety and premises related issues as needed
o Other duties as assigned
