Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist oversees various aspects of HR, including employee relations, performance management, policy implementation, and compliance. The primary objective will be to ensure that HR employee relations procedures and performance appraisals run smoothly and effectively, contributing to the overall success of the Goodwill SCWI. This role contributes to company performance by providing both strategic and transactional support of people and processes that help drive the attainment of business objectives. Performs HR related duties at the professional level while supporting more than one functional group.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Familiar with Federal and Wisconsin employment laws
  • Attention to detail, communication, and experience with corrective actions
  • HR experience in a non-profit or retail setting preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide strategic ideas and approaches while managing the details of a project
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and HRIS systems, preferable Paylocity
  • SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus
    Travel Required: Ability to travel up to 20 %

Required education and/or work experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years professional Human Resource or related experience
  • Must have at least one year of broad employee relations experience in an HR role, preferably with a multi-site organization

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as primary employee relations contact including mediation, negotiations and internal investigations. Partner with Asset Protection and other departments as needed
  • Develop strong partnerships with hiring managers and other leaders across functional units to provide effective coaching and training on employee performance, promotion and development
  • Assist the HR Director and HR manager with the HR strategic initiatives, processes and/or programs related to employee onboarding and orientation to assure a positive experience for new hires and contribute to employee engagement and employee retention.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze data to develop best practices and new initiatives that contribute to employee retention. Deploy employee engagement survey and other tools to promote employee engagement and retention efforts.
  • Manage organizational performance management process including corrective action, performance appraisals, merit increases, and training of managers within HRIS
  • Manage employee service recognition program and submit reports on activity and budget utilization.
  • Lead organizational health and wellness initiatives and total rewards program.
  • Provide updates to policies and practices including the Employee Handbook, and other forms of written and electronic documents.
  • Assist with HR compliance matters including file audits, federal, and state reporting, and accreditation matters.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment and associated employee processes.
  • Support organizational DEI efforts as they pertain to HR policies, practices, and procedures; serve on associated committees.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of projects that contribute to departmental goals and overall business objectives.
