Powder River Industries is looking for an HR Generalist who will provide support to the team. A successful candidate will run the daily functions of the Human Resource department including onboarding, benefit communication and administration, will enforce company policies and practices, may oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department. A successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail. The successful candidate will act as liaison between employees and insurance providers and possess the ability to resolve benefit related problems and create a positive employee relation.

Requirements:

  • 3+ year of human resources management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn HRIS and time-keeping systems

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with employees as needed on HR topics
  • Communicate with leadership regularly and transparently to keep them informed on the pulse of HR efforts
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training.
  • Works with the recruiting team to provide information to job applicants, and assists recruiting team in the recruitment of qualified applicants.
  • Facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with leadership team, and recruitment team to understand skills, and competencies required for job openings.
  • Respond to requests for employment verifications.
  • Coordinate employee alcohol and drug testing.
  • Mentor Interns and assist in their development/understanding of the human resources function.
  • Creates, and modifies job offer letters according to company standard.
  • Conducts employee eligibility verifications, uses, and understands the E-Verify system for I-9 administration. Completes, verifies, and maintains I-9 files according to federal regulation and company procedure.
  • Researches, reviews, recommends, and implements employment laws for the states, counties, and cities operated in. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Conducts audits of benefits, payroll or other HR programs and recommends corrective action.
  • Run reports and store for future reference weekly, monthly, and as needed.
  • Maintains employee personnel files, audits for accuracy.
  • Maintains office supplies, serves as a point of contact for office employees and needed supplies.
  • Assist with the preparation of the performance review process.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale.
  • Assist in the documentation and investigation processes needed to perform performance improvement plans (PIP). May assist in the writing of the PIP.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors. Works with leadership team for complex, and/or sensitive matters.
  • Verifies time-keeping reports including but not limited to accrual reports, timesheet reports, leave reports, and payroll reports. Reviews these reports for accuracy and implements a solution for incorrect reports. May assist employees with entering, and submitting time worked, time off requests, and payroll requests into the appropriate system.
  • Audit all accruals monthly, Identify and resolve issues, Keep employees updated monthly on any actions that will impact them.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Utilizes company systems, Paylocity, JPMorgan Asset Management, Bswift, Unanet, UHC, Website, customer timekeeping sites, and Google Suite to perform work, understands systems, responds to errors, inefficiencies, and supports employees using these programs.
  • Reviews, recommends, and implements policies and procedures, maintains the employee handbook.
  • Creates, modifies, and communicates training resources, including writing training documentation, creating LMS training through Paylocity.
  • Assists in payroll functions, including running payroll, payroll reports, time-keeping reports, ensures accuracy in vacation, sick, and other leave programs.
  • Contributes to schedule development, metric collection, and process development within the functional area.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned

  • Associates degree or better in Human Resources, business management or a related field preferred.
