Human Resources (HR) Manager – Gosport
Huhtamaki’s Fiber Foodservice segment is currently looking for an experienced HR Manager to join our team in Gosport.
As a HR Manager at Huhtamaki, you will be responsible for all employee life cycle processes at our Gosport site, from recruitment to termination. You will ensure the site complies with legal, customer and business requirements, including customer audits. You will also set the ethical standards for the business, ensuring employees are treated fairly and consistently in line with policies and procedures. Alongside striving to improve employee engagement and employee turnover whilst maintaining productive working relationships with the Union and Works Council members.
As the HR Manager on site, you will report to the Head of HR, UK & Ireland Fiber Foodservice Market Unit with a dotted line to the Manufacturing Site Manager for the Gosport Plant. The local management team meets regularly to review progress against business plan objectives and progress against the key performance indicators.
Main responsibilities:

Strategic HR Business Partner

  • Act as a strategic BP for the business to ensure plant goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Responsible for providing HR strategy & planning, organizational effectiveness and leadership development aligned with the Huhtamaki global strategy
  • Provides leadership and strategic insight to the leadership team on both business and HR matters.

Operational HR management

  • Responsible for overseeing HR team members in Gosport and providing HR leadership, including, but not limited to
  • End to end recruitment, covering direct recruitment up to senior leadership
  • Overseeing onboarding and other induction procedures.
  • Local compensation and benefits process (including pay review, Incentive planning and payout).
  • input to the country salary market situation and progression at salary budget setting.
  • Evaluation of benefit alignment needs and implementation at site level.
  • Supporting managers at all levels (including hosted employees) with employee relations matters
  • Managing the relationship with the Union
  • Ensure that the Company complies with all legal and or local employment law policies, procedures and practices, including customer auditing

HR Development and Processes

  • Ensures the implementation of global or national HR guidelines, policies, programs, processes and practices
  • Responsible for all strategic HR initiatives across the Gosport site including engagement survey, training roll out and any other requirements from the business’ Centre of Excellence.
  • Performance review
  • Directs the annual performance management process and salary reviews for the plant
  • Responsible for talent development and succession planning.
  • Directs and ensures appropriate training & development to supervisors and managers on performance management, compensation and benefits, employee/labor relations, people leadership. Organise common or group training programmes across the site.
  • Help managers to understand the gaps in capabilities and performance and how to fill those gaps

HR leader and Advisory role

  • Ensures policies and procedures are up to date and align with business and legal requirements
  • Directs, advises and counsels managers and their direct reports concerning policies and procedures, organisational structure, and business unit goals and objectives;
  • Directs HR team to ensure consistent and effective HR support to all employees of the plant (including performance management, employee relations, policy and procedures)
  • Ensures compliance with legal and ethical matters

HR Planning and Organisational Review

  • Ensures HR plans support the needs of the business but are also flexible enough to cope with changes in the organisation
  • Ensure that the organisation model is in line with the development and strategic business plans, manages any changes needed
  • Ensure with the managers that job descriptions (roles and responsibilities) are up to date and reflect the business needs.

Required Experience, Skills & Education:

Professional experience:

  • Management
  • At least 3 years’ experience of managing a busy HR department, in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ideally experience of ethical audits, including SMETA and SWA
  • Mature leadership with team building experience.
  • Team player with strong independent working capability.
  • Business Partner
  • Proven experience of business partnering with the Senior Management Team.
  • Ideally experience within a multinational organisation, business partnering with leaders across Europe
  • Can quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working relationships with business.
  • Strong commitment to problem resolution, both operational and strategic issues.
  • Excellent Customer Service relationships and Customer Service/communications skills.
  • HR Generalist background
  • Solid experience and evidence of operational HR duties
  • Sound understanding of UK employment law.
  • Knowledge of all areas in human resources management (HR Generalist background)
  • Experience in negotiating agreements with external stakeholders/work councils/Labor Unions.
  • Good IT skills, particularly MS software and HRIS systems, ideally Workday.
