The HR Specialist plays an important role in the effective execution of human resources functions within the organization, including but not limited to performance management, recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, employee engagement programs (UG Cares) and HR policy implementation. This role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, focusing on managing and enhancing the relationship between the organization and its workforce.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in human resources, with a focus on performance management, recruitment, and employee relations.
  • Solid knowledge of employment, labour, and privacy laws.
  • Advanced understanding of employment regulations and legislation.
  • Proven abilities with office productivity software and HRIS systems (e.g. BambooHR/ADP)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Intuitive EQ with excellent communication both written and verbal
  • Solid problem-solving skills
  • High level of confidentiality and sensitivity
  • Demonstrated tactfulness and diplomacy as required
    The recruitment process for this role typically lasts 1 to 2 weeks and includes a phone interview, behavioural assessment and an in-person interview.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management to deliver HR programs aligned with business objectives.
  • Continuously seek value-add opportunities to enhance the employee experience.
  • Analyze performance data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other HR team members to ensure a consistent approach to performance management across the organization.
  • Assist with recruitment needs for the organization, to support the hiring process and meet organizational staffing requirements.
  • Collaborate on special projects within the human resources department such as rollouts of new initiatives and policies.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders by responding to requests in a timely fashion.
  • Assist with drafting company wide announcements and communications.
  • Collaborate with other HR team members to ensure a consistent approach to performance management across the organization.
  • Updates employee files as necessary.
