Job Summary : The HSC Casting Technician operates and oversees casting furnaces within allowable guidelines, schedules work by coordinating job and correct alloys, records and monitors all furnace melting process information, and follows schedules and completes work as required.

Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities :

  • Operates and maintains casting furnaces.
  • Coordinates job numbers with correct alloy, weight, and temperature per PMS.
  • Ensures that charges are properly identified and corresponded to appropriate numbers and lot routers.
  • Transports ingots of alloy to work unit utilizing hoist to lift to specific areas and load into chamber box/charge box.
  • Handles molds from pre-heat furnace to casting furnace.
  • Monitors gauges to assure correct settings, accurate pour speed and appropriate crucible size for melting process.
  • Determines accurate pump down time to prescribed vacuum levels.
  • Replaces crucibles/packs crucibles using grog according to best practices.
  • Records temperature at unit and signals team operators to remove mold from preheat.
  • Cleans and removes all metal from splash guards, crucible blocks, and furnace.
  • Must support and actively participate in 6S programs.
  • Must follow all approved written processes, instructions and procedures.
  • Must develop, improve, and clarify written procedures (i.e., Work Instructions, Activity Instructions, Safety Procedures)
  • Must utilize Human Performance Tools to improve EHS standards, compliance, and product quality.
  • Must actively participate in the collection and analysis of data regarding manufacturing processes to identify improvement opportunities using A3, 6Sigma Methodology or other approved methods.
  • Must have a basic understanding of industrial and mechanical drawings.
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed by uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • This position requires a minimum of one year of related manufacturing experience and/or training.
  • Must be available for all shifts . Must be able to work overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant’s ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
