Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
Currently recruiting for a HSE Manager to join our busy Manufacturing plant and Distribution Centre in Thirsk, North Yorkshire on a permanent basis.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Drive Health, Safety and Environment performance improvement at the manufacturing unit to deliver agreed KPI targets
- Ensure the manufacturing unit’s Health, Safety and Environment policies and systems are managed effectively to support the adherence to all relevant legislation and agreed internal standards for Health, Safety, Environmental and Site Security
- Monitor and embed the manufacturing unit’s management processes, including the investigation of all lost time incidents and management of the incident recording system, to ensure a safe working environment is maintained
- Ensure that Health, Safety and Environment incidents are reported to the enforcing authorities, in accordance with the requirements of relevant regulations, to ensure legal compliance
- Lead the Health, Safety and Environment manufacturing unit’s audit programmes to ensure compliance with agreed standards and recommend areas for improvement
- Co-ordinate and manage local Stakeholder relationships (EA, HSE, Customers, Local Community) and ensure no compliance issues
- Develop and deliver the manufacturing unit’s Health, Safety and Environment plan in conjunction with the manufacturing unit’s leadership team to improve Health, Safety and Environment performance
- Ensure that Health, Safety and Environment matters are considered in all Capex projects in line with Group policy and insurance requirements.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- National/professional qualification (preferably at degree level) in Health, Safety and Environment or equivalent
- Health, Safety and Environment advisory / leadership role gained in a manufacturing environment or related field
- Up to date knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment legislation
- Track record of implementing Health, Safety and Environment improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
To provide professional support and guidance to the Manufacturing Unit and Distribution Centre on all Health, Safety and Environment matters in alignment with the Group Health, Safety and Environment policy and business objectives.
