WHAT WE NEED

Clinical equipment apprentice

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ECG monitors, blood pressure cuffs, defibrillators, anesthesia units – a hospital requires a lot of biomedical equipment and that equipment must always be in top condition. Our Bio-Med Technician Apprentice works alongside the Biomedical Equipment Technicians and Clinical Engineers to learn various functions of the Clinical Engineering department. They provide support functions such as inventory management and database administration. Think you’re up for the challenge?

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred Associate’s Degree
  • Preferred Certificate
  • Required High School Diploma/GED

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high quality and cost effective results by performing a wide variety of support activities and medical equipment service across a wide range of device types and in multiple facilities and clinical care areas as assigned, following the organizational policies and procedures.
  • Accept guidance and training from more experienced members of the Clinical Engineering department in a way that reflects the Franciscan mission and values while also demonstrating self-accountability for completion of his or her assigned service activities, as directed by supervisor or more experienced team members.
  • Appropriately document equipment information and service activities within the medical equipment database to assure timely, accurate and complete service documentation and inventory management.
  • Take action to appropriately respond to and make supervisor aware of any customer concerns, patient incidents, significant device failures or other urgent situation that may arise within the daily activities of the Clinical Engineering team.
  • Participate in relevant technical and professional training or related activities to demonstrate progression along a career path toward increased responsibilities within the Clinical Engineering department.
  • Actively participate in assuring the success and positive reputation of the Clinical Engineering department by willingly and competently performing any necessary service functions and/or related administrative activities.
  • Take responsibility for identifying opportunities for improvement and making recommendations for positive changes in processes to improve the quality of service or contribute to positive patient or organizational outcomes.
