Description:

JOB SUMMARY

As a Human Centered Design Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in creating products and experiences that prioritize the needs, desires, and behaviors of users. Your primary focus will be on understanding users’ perspectives, iterating designs based on feedback, and ensuring that the final product enhances usability, accessibility, and overall user satisfaction.
This role will involve conducting user research, conceptualizing design ideas, creating prototypes for visualization and testing, and collaborating closely with various stakeholders throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
This individual will work closely with business analysts, software engineers, BI developers, IT professionals, project managers, visualization team, and other relevant team members to ensure seamless integration and alignment between business requirements and design solutions.
The Human Centered Design Specialist will receive moderate direction on day-to-day work and general instruction on new projects or assignments. Will assist project leadership on projects of complex scope. Will work independently or under limited supervision.
This person will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong understanding of usability principles, design thinking methodologies, and user research techniques
  • Experience in conducting ideation sessions and other stakeholder engagement activities
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Proficiency in using design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, or equivalent
  • Experience with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)
  • Ability to communicate effectively directly with internal and external clients
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technology
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyStay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in human centered design

  • Up to 5%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US statesTravel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meeting for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or related field preferred
