Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a member of the Human Resources department, this role will provide HR-related services to the business and is involved in several areas of HR. There is an emphasis on ensuring company-wide adherence to HR related programs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Implements and delivers policies, guidelines and procedures within the scope of responsibility;
  • Provides HR guidance and support to employees, supervisors, superintendent and management;
  • Manages employee performance programs i.e., progressive disciplines, attendance management and performance improvement programs;
  • Assist with managing the company’s alcohol and drug program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and providing support and resources to employees;
  • Develop and implement strategies to integrate the HR vision, strategy, and priorities throughout the organization via strategic communication channels;
  • Investigates complaints and concerns related to workplace issues, including misconduct, harassment, discrimination, and violations of company policies;
  • Develops and implements employee engagement initiatives;
  • Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, databases and customized, in-house applications, to assemble, manipulate, format reports and complete analysis;
  • Advises on HR policies, procedures, and employment law matters.

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will be a team player who possesses:

  • University degree or college diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications or a related field or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • 3 years of relevant Human Resources experience in a mining (unionized and non-unionized) environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to research and draft company policies and procedures
  • Requires limited degree of supervision
  • Adapt to changing priorities and a high degree of accuracy/attention to detail
  • HR certification (CHRP, CPHR) will be considered an asset.
