Description:

JOB SYNOPSIS

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this 35 hour a week/13 week position will work with MCCO’s 5 member HR team that supports 145 staff and over 1400 volunteers across Ontario. This position will support the Human Resource department and Volunteer Services Manager in updating job descriptions, creating newsletters, updating staff and volunteer handbooks, and maintaining database(s) integrity. There will be opportunity to assist the Volunteer Services Manager in planning summer site visits and/or events at MCCO Thrift Shops.

Required

  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Internet and database systems)
  • Ability to work quickly and independently on identified tasks, taking direction and contributing to a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: both verbal and written
  • Discretion and ability to deal with highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Police vulnerable sector check required upon hire
  • Legally able to work in Canada

**International students are not eligible participants. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION

This role will work out of the MCC Office at 50 Kent Ave in Kitchener Ontario

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative Tasks

  • Review and edit staff and volunteer manuals
  • Assist with Volunteer Survey results
  • Assist with volunteer data input and audits
  • Assist in updating volunteer postings on recruitment websites
  • Assist the HR team with research for various projects (volunteer and staff appreciation, newsletters, wellness, etc.)
  • Assist with local networking opportunities
  • Accompany Volunteer Services Manager on site visits to shops & programs
  • Collaborate with MCC staff to ensure staff and volunteer role descriptions are accurate
  • Label, prepare and transfer information files according to established records management life-cycle procedures
  • Assist the HR team with updating and creating various documents and procedures, including a training catalogue

  • Perform other job related duties as assigned
  • Participate in a local faith community, being willing to use personal gifts within this community and model nonviolent peacemaking through respectful interaction with others
  • Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting Christian respect and Christ’s unconditional love to those with whom you work, including colleagues, partner agencies, the homeless and marginalized
