The HR Business Analyst will be a crucial member of the Workday Implementation Team, tasked with supporting the transformation of NAIT’S ERP system from PeopleSoft to Workday. Following the successful implementation of Workday, the HR Business Analyst will transition to the HR Operations team.
We are seeking an individual who is a self-starter, creative and enthusiastic in their approach, and who is in constant pursuit of challenging the status quo to make better and more efficient HR processes, while always keeping in mind the end user experience.
Your exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, and ability to problem solve within an HR/Payroll, ERP, unionized environment will allow you to excel in this role.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of Human Resources/Payroll & Benefits practices is an asset
  • Demonstrated success with business requirements analysis, group facilitation, gap analysis, process mapping and design as part of a business transformation
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and handle multiple priorities
  • Experience in interpreting legislation and internal regulations/policies
  • Strong business acumen that is centered around building customer value through innovative technical solutions, strategies and practices
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to work on several initiatives in parallel, while independently prioritizing and executing tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Extremely analytical and enjoy solving problems, proposing more than one solution to a problem and tackling new challenges while improving processes and creating efficiencies
  • Natural talent for building relationships and collaborating with others, along with the ability to work independently
  • Strong understanding of Relational Databases (SQL Server) and principles - understanding of Data Modeling Concepts
  • High level of proficiency with SQL coding, creating reports, and running queries
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Visualizations, Formulas) and Project Management software, and Power BI
  • Strong interest in data analysis, with the ability to summarize complicated data analysis, making it easier to understand

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Related degree or diploma, preferably with a specialization in business analysis
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a business or process analyst position preferably within a human resources environment, and in a unionized, post-secondary environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working within a medium to large-scale ERP system, preferably Workday and/or PeopleSoft
  • Preference will be given to those with experience implementing a large-scale ERP like Workday
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with writing complex SQL scripts
  • Business Analyst/Project Management certification is considered an asset
  • Experience working with both agile and waterfall delivery methodologies
    Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
    Remuneration: $79,795.82 - $105,715.48 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the liaison with all levels of the NAIT user community, communicating new functionality to staff, processes and/or business rules
  • Provide end-user support to ensure the ultimate application user experience by facilitating training, creating reference materials and resolving issues in a timely manner as they occur
  • Provide the necessary foundation of HR business knowledge and innovative research skills to facilitate effective discussions and propose recommendations to support and identify business solutions to better align with our ERP transformation from PeopleSoft to Workday
  • Gather, assess, analyze, and translate current policies, programs, agreements, services, or business requirements and apply a variety of analytic processes and techniques to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Utilize a variety of tools including, but not limited to, PS Query, MS SQL and MS Excel and Visio to extract data for reporting purposes for internal and external clients
  • Analyze and compile data to ensure accuracy and completeness for business reporting
  • Work in conjunction with IT professionals to provide support for application maintenance and modification through testing, report development, and documentation
  • Review system upgrades and patches to assess the impact to processes, and develop and execute test plans to ensure efficient enhancements
  • Collaborate with business users and application developers to manage deliverables, identify bugs and recommend and introduce solutions
