JOB DESCRIPTION

An exciting new opportunity has been created for an experienced compensation professional to join the Total Reward team and help lead the compensation strategy for the region and support business growth. Reporting to the European Head of Total Rewards and HR Risk, the role holder will be a key member of the Total Rewards team, responsible for the successful implementation and management of European Compensation programs with a specific focus on the development, governance and regulatory compliance of sales incentive plans and corporate incentive plans.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to shape the compensation strategy across our 9 European countries (Ireland, Germany, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden and U.K.) to support one of HR’s key objectives of attracting, retaining and engaging the best talent and supporting business growth.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead the Europe corporate and sales compensation teams to drive synergies, create good governance and controls and deliver top class service to internal clients whilst working closely with the global U.S. Compensation Team to exchange knowledge and deliver global and local initiatives.
  • Provide compensation-related guidance to internal colleagues and act as a point of contact for compensation escalations ensuring that escalations are handled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Proactively identify and interpret compensation trends, understand the businesses you support and offer guidance and advice that produces actionable insights.
  • Understand the European business model and strategy to be able to design and deliver incentive plans that are regulatory compliant and help support business growth in the right way, whilst remaining customer focused.
  • Help lead and manage the regional annual compensation performance year-end process including providing support to HR, the business and senior management through engagement and reporting.
  • Oversee and support the analysis, market assessment, design and delivery of senior management and material risk taker compensation inclusive of Directors of the Board.
  • Develop/enhance regional compensation KPIs and track progress against these.
  • Partner with finance to ensure that the annual compensation expense remains within plan and annual forecasting incorporates compensation planning. Work will also involve working with finance on financial regulatory reports (FINREP) and the annual financial statements, as applicable.
  • Partner with the Europe HR Regulatory and Risk team to manage the MRT identification process and produce and deliver complete and accurate regulatory reports and disclosures and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with industry experts and consultants to advance our understanding of current industry trends and demand.Maintain an effective knowledge of remuneration regulations in order to respond to complex employee or regulatory requests ensuring compliance with government and regulatory agencies

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrable proven success in the design, operation and management sales incentive plans.
  • Significant experience in compensation management, preferably within the financial services sector.
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of key European compensation legal and regulatory topics applicable to credit institutions and investment firms.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and managing risk and compliance associated with frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Proven track record of designing communications to senior executives and broader employee communications.
  • Demonstrable experience of interaction, influencing and reaching agreed upon solutions at a management and executive levels.
  • Proven track record of working independently on their own initiative and delivering practical outcomes to a professional standard.
  • Proven to be resilient and able to handle multiple priorities, meeting deadlines whilst maintaining high work standards, with impeccable attention to detail in performance of all tasks.
  • Experience in managing different stakeholders including second and third lines of defense.
  • Collaborative in approach with strong emphasis on delivery and execution.
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills are needed; including experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Generally, the role requires a degree or equivalent but candidates with exceptional experience without a qualification to degree level will be considered.
