Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position is a learning position within our organization to help a student develop career related skills in manufacturing, engineering, and business from a human resources perspective. As an HR Co-Op at Drop Sprockets, you will collaborate closely with management and employees to provide strategic HR support and guidance. You will report to the Director of People and Culture. You will provide support for ensuring that our people-related functions align with our company goals and values. By fostering strong relationships, you will drive initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction, performance, and growth while maintaining compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism exercising sound judgement, discretion and upholding of employee and employer rights.
  • Possess a high level of diplomacy and ethical decision making abilities.
  • Eligible candidates must be 15 to 30 years of age as of the start date of the employment engagement.
  • Must possess a valid Social Insurance Number and be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident of Canada or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
  • Previous work experience considered an asset.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrolled or recently completed coursework in Human Resources, Labour Relations or Environmental Health and Safety
  • Previous experience in a role that supported recruitment, employee relations or health and safety

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with leadership to understand business objectives and develop HR/Health and Safety strategies that align with company goals.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Support the recruitment process by collaborating with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, conducting interviews, and facilitating the onboarding process.
  • Post positions, screen candidates, schedule interviews and provide support with the day-to-day administration of our applicant tracking system.
  • Support employee lifecycle events, including promotions, transfers, and terminations, while ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of HR and H&S policies and procedures, ensuring they remain current and compliant.
  • Provide first point of contact to management and employees in the injury management process for Manufacturing and office personnel.
  • Support data integrity in personnel file management by ensuring essential documentation is scanned and saved effectively.
  • Support the learning and development of personnel by assessing training needs, booking rooms, managing attendees and following up on any outstanding documentation required.
  • Other reasonably assigned tasks in the People & Culture/HR function.
