JOB OVERVIEW:
Bellarmine is seeking a dynamic Human Resources (HR) Generalist to support and enhance the experience of employees. The HR Generalist will play a crucial role in supporting the school’s mission by ensuring alignment with Catholic, Jesuit values and managing human resources functions. This position requires a blend of HR expertise, a commitment to educational excellence, and an understanding of the Jesuit tradition. The HR Generalist will support all school employees, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
COMPETENCIES/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3-5 years of prior experience in HR roles.
- Knowledge of Catholic, Jesuit values and a commitment to upholding them.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
DESIRED COMPETENCIES/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in an educational or religious institution.

Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and Onboarding
- Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs.
- Coordinate the recruitment process, including job postings, interviews, and candidate selection.
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a seamless transition into the Bellarmine community.
- Manage Safe-Environment Training and background checks for new employees and volunteers.
- Employee Relations
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
- Promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Address employee relations questions and situations in a timely and confidential manner.
- Compensation and Benefits Administration
- Conduct regular benefit and salary benchmarking and analysis to maintain competitive compensation packages.
- Manage the employee review process.
- Produce annual contracts and agreements for employees.
- Process employee compensation changes.
- Administer employee benefits programs and open enrollment process, including health insurance, retirement and leave plans.
- Provide guidance to employees on benefits-related matters.
- Policy Development, Compliance and Data Reporting
- Develop and update HR policies in alignment with Catholic, Jesuit principles.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and school policies.
- Process L&I claims, FMLA, PFML, disability and COBRA paperwork.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and employee files.
- Prepare reports for school administration and regulatory bodies as needed.
- Collaborate with departments across campus to complete required reports and data collection.
- Stay informed about HR best practices and bring innovative ideas to the school’s administration.

- Integrate Catholic Jesuit values into HR practices and programs.
- Develop and lead employee health and wellness programs.
