Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Full-time HR Generalist II position available for our Sea Mar - South Park, Seattle location. The day-to-day duties of the HR Generalist II will focus on Benefits Coordination, but the HR Generalist II is expected to back up other HR Generalists on these listed tasks as required by operational need:

  • Maintains employee files and records in both electronic and paper form; ensures the accuracy of information entered into the human resource information system records; compiles meaningful reports from the database, and audits personnel files for accuracy and content compliance.
  • Understands Union contract and Sea Mar personnel policies and procedures and is able to execute daily work in accordance with requirements.
  • Participates in developing and implementing HR department goals, objectives, and processes.
  • Performs benefits administration, including initial enrollment, change reporting, approving occasional invoices for premium payment, and communicating benefits information to employees. Main benefits programs include health insurance, life insurance and 401k contributions.
  • Administers COBRA for termed employees.
  • Administers the organization’s recruitment program.
  • Generates and processes wage changes for all employees, ensuring compensation accuracy along union contract guidelines.
  • Provides support to employees and management in various HR related topics such as leaves, compensation, resolving issues and escalating when appropriate.
  • Supports and educates management staff on personnel policies, internal processes, and contract compliance as it pertains to employee relations.
  • Maintains and supports HR processes in a timely manner including, but not limited to: leave administration, EEO-1 reporting, separations, L&I/Worker’s compensation, and unemployment.
  • Plans and participates in new employee orientation for all staff.
  • Maintains and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Maintains job description library to ensure current and accurate job descriptions are accessible and used for all positions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT

This applicant must navigate initial hire screenings including a background check conducted internally through Sea Mar’s HR department. The new employee shall sign and date the job description to affirm the validity of the information herein and to signify compliance with the conditions of employment; they must sign an oath of permanent confidentiality covering all patient related information as well. The employee must adhere to the Sea Mar Employee Health Screening and Infection Control policies.

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of employment/labor laws.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and people skills.
  • Aptitude in problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach.
  • High ethical standards, confidentiality, and cultural competence.
  • Demonstrated competence with HRIS systems, MS Office applications, and SharePoint.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates Degree in Human Resources/Business Management or HRM Certificate Course completion required; Bachelors preferred; a minimum of 5 years’ related experience required.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Proven experience in Human Resources with minimum of 5 years’ experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Pre-hire and annual employee health screening required.
  • Annual influenza vaccine required. The only exception is for employees with a medical or religious exemption be approved by Administration. Employees with an approved medical or religious exemption must wear a mask at all times during the flu season.
  • TB testing is required annually.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
