Description:

Reporting to the HR and Safety Manager, you are an HR professional who prides themselves on the ability to manage a multitude of projects and create a positive employee experience. You will provide counsel, coaching, and support on HR programs, and employee relations and respond to employee and manager questions. This role is critical in executing key HR initiatives, providing available and responsive internal employee support, and driving HR functional excellence within our organization.
Job Title: Human Resources Generalist.
Location: 340 Regional Rd. 20, Hamilton, ON.
Pay: $50,000 to 55,000 Annually.
Benefits: RRSP program - Profit Sharing.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 or more years of Human Resources Generalist experience is required.
  • Previous experience in the Construction and/or Landscaping industry would be considered an asset.
  • Formal Human Resources education at the post-secondary level is required.
  • Experience in HR program delivery and facilitation of HR programs.
  • Sound knowledge of the Employment Standards Act and other legislation and government requirements to support compliant employee relations.
  • CHRP designation is considered an asset.
  • Strong experience working with MS Office.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in full-cycle recruitment (on-boarding and off-boarding), including creating job descriptions, and postings, managing job advertisements, screening, and arranging interviews with candidates, preparation of Working Wage Agreements.
  • Organize the management of new employee orientation, onboarding, and training programs.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and track employee training with a focus on employee job requirements and training due dates.
  • Assist HRSM in coordinating and initiating the safety orientation for all new hires.
  • Ensure that orientation and hands-on training/evaluation have been undertaken for all drivers, operators, lawn maintenance, and construction employees.
  • Issue weekly and monthly Tailgate (Safety) topics to the field crews to be conducted by managers and returned.
  • Assist in the provision of coaching, guidance, and administration support to managers and employees related to HR programs, training, employee relations management, absence/disability management, benefits, and performance management.
  • Maintenance of employee files, including physical and electronic formats.
  • Ensuring the issuance of employee handbook and applicable policies, maintaining up-to-date employee profiles (including training and disciplinary records).
  • Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs.
  • Promote company/staff satisfaction and assist in the organization of team-building events (i.e., Christmas parties, company picnics, etc.).
  • Assist in the implementation of safety procedures for all staff and divisions.
  • Keep all safety boards updated regularly according to health and safety standards.
