Description:

This is a temporary role for approximately 10 months. This role is hybrid position and may require travel within the portfolio.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Human Resources Generalist assists and supports in the delivery of human resource programs, policies and initiatives to our communities and corporately. This individual provides a collaborative and supportive approach to Human Resources and working with the HR team and communities to improve the employee experience which will allow them to provide exception care to our Residents. This role reports to the Director Human Resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A university degree or diploma in Human Resources (or related discipline) with 5 or more years of Human Resources generalist experience, with a particular strength in Labour Relations. CHRP designation or working towards is an asset
  • A minimum of five years of human resources experience preferably in healthcare, or a combination of education and experience
  • The ability to research, analyze and reason logically and effectively within tight and conflicting timeframes
  • Handles confidential information in an ethical manner
  • Strong work ethic, high level of enthusiasm and ability to excel in a flexible, fast paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an effective communication both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of applicable legislations
  • Some travel is required
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Communities in the areas of employee appreciation/recognition and employee wellness.
  • Provides guidance in areas of Labour and Employee Relations. This includes grievance research and administration.
  • Participates in collective bargaining including conducting market research data; costing proposals and maintaining bargaining files and notes. Provide contract language interpretation and application.
  • Assists managers in preparing alternatives to resolve disputes and grievances including developing and compiling documentation, reviewing employee personnel files and making recommendations.
  • Assists Communities maintain compliance with internal human resource policies and practices, as well as legislation as it relates to the human resource function (including the Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Code and Workers Compensation Act).
  • Participates in annual HR initiatives including but not limited to; review of HR policies, Employee Satisfaction Survey; Action Planning; Assist with salary survey projects and annual companywide compensation reviews
  • Assists with a variety of Human Resource initiatives including leadership training and development, Accreditation, performance management and employee recognition programs.
  • Provide HR service through coaching, guidance and advice to leaders regarding best practices in people management, and employee engagement.
  • Coaches and provides advice and guidance to community leaders on the employee appraisal process
  • Liaise and support the payroll and benefits function as required

  • Undertake special projects and perform other related duties as required.
