Motion Picture Industry Pension & Health Plans (MPI) has an immediate opportunity for a Human Resources Manager to join a collaborative HR team in a key role co-managing leave of absence administration, including COVID-related compliance, HR reporting and bench marking responsibilities. Strong technical skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required, with excellent verbal and written communication skills a must.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience as a Human Resources senior level generalist, business partner or manager in California; people management/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of and minimum 5+ years of experience managing LOAs including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, ADA, FLSA, FEHA and EEOC.
  • Ability to discern when to pend a decision on FMLA based on receipt of additional medical documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including grammar and spelling.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using MS Office Suite; intermediate Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills (advanced skills a plus).
  • Excellent technical skills, experience and familiarity with HR Analytics, HRIS and ATS systems.
  • Experience using Ceridian Dayforce and Salary.com compensation tools a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • HR Certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience and ability to handle confidential information professionally and with discretion; demonstrated sound, professional judgment.
    The anticipated base salary for this position is $105,000 - $140,000 annually. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held.
    Local candidates only, relocation assistance is not provided. This is an onsite position at our offices in Studio City, CA, which has a Covid-19 vaccine policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-manage the administration of leave of absence requests and the daily management and maintenance of FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, ADA, Workers Comp and Short and Long Term Disability (STD/LTD) claims, including responsibility for the ADA interactive process.
  • Co-manage COVID-related time off in compliance with federal, state and local regulations, including SPSL, management of vaccine documentation, and related health and safety issues related to COVID policies in the workplace.
  • Manage all aspects of Workers Compensation claims from initial report of injury through investigation and coordination of benefits. Fulfill all documentation requirements to assure accurate claims management. Work with employees and claims adjusters to assure quality treatment and effective return to work.
  • Using knowledge and familiarity with compensation best practices, manage bench marking of compensation ranges balancing external market pricing and internal equity, ensuring compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Tracking and management of data and communication of benefits and eligibility to employees and management.
  • Interpreting all relevant and required documentation for certifying or denying leaves according with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Function as liaison with MPI Payroll staff to ensure accurate and complete information has been provided regarding the employee’s LOA or disability claim.
  • Create, prepare, update and maintain HR reports for analyzing, reporting and managing data.
  • Work cross-functionally with other HR Generalists and Talent Acquisition Specialists.
  • Co-manage performance management activities, annual evaluations and corrective action.
  • Assist with employee relations matters including employee investigations.
  • Identifying issues and concerns as they arise and proactively recommend a plan for resolution.
  • Communicating effectively with a high level of customer service and maintain a professional working relationships within MPI and other third-party vendors.
