We are currently recruiting for a Human Resources Officer for Fermain Valley Hotel in Guernsey which is part of Hand Picked Hotels.
Fermain Valley is a 4 star luxury hotel in Guernsey, with a beautiful cliff top position offering breathtaking views of the Channel Islands. All 49 rooms in this luxury hotel in Guernsey are individually designed to create an air of calm, allowing guests to completely unwind. Three of Guernsey’s best restaurants are located at the Fermain Valley Hotel and we’re extremely proud of their popularity with both locals and visitors.

Responsibilities:

  • As HR Officer you will be responsible for assisting the Regional HR Manager in the achievement of service excellence through the effective engagement of Hand Picked people, providing a professional, commercial and effective HR service, limiting business risks through the application of legal knowledge and Company procedures.
  • Supporting the business to deliver an outstanding employment experience to all team members, with a key emphasis on team member engagement during the induction period.
  • Provision of advice and guidance to managers and team members in routine employment related mattersDelivery of an accurate and timely HR administration service to the hotel.
  • Working in conjunction with the hotels, collate accurate periodic payroll information for communication to the central Finance Team completing routine compliance checks in relation to Minimum Wage and Company policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and administrational support for routine employee relations activities, (disciplinary, capability, grievance, flexible working and unauthorised absences) in partnership with the General Manager and Head of Departments and seeking advice where necessary.
  • Co-ordinate employee welfare and benefits activities, including uniform ordering, employee of the month programme, employee service awards and the employee accommodation provision.

About you

  • It is essential you have current Human Resources generalist experience within a busy HR function and are keen to develop a career within HR.
  • You will have strong technical skills with a good knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook and previous experience of working with an HRIS is desirable.
  • It is essential you are highly organised and are able to multi-task and maintain your attention to detail in a busy and fast paced environment.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to build rapport with others and understand the importance of treating everyone as an individual.
  • Knowledge of employment law and current Channel Island experience would be preferred.
  • CIPD level 3 or 5 would be advantageous.
