Description:
Under the direction of the Director, Human Resources, and with day-to-day guidance from the Human Resources Administrative Coordinator, the Human Resources Student is responsible for performing a variety of routine HR administrative duties in a highly confidential and customer focused environment to assist in the day-to-day operation of the Human Resources Department. This position serves as the back-up to the Human Resources Administrative Coordinator and Human Resources Assistant; and performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
This position is eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs grant program. To be eligible, youth must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Currently enrolled in a relevant Human Resources Management program, or equivalent.
- General knowledge of human resources practices.
- Strong knowledge of computer software applications in a Windows environment including Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) and general office equipment.
- Experience with HRIS systems an asset.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to multi-task and strong organizational skills.
- Good interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong data entry and keyboarding skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when data entering, handling employee information and filing
- Must be customer service oriented and use tact and diplomacy to deal courteously and effectively with the public and employees.
- Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement particularly when handling confidential/sensitive information
