Description:

Under the direction of the Director, Human Resources, and with day-to-day guidance from the Human Resources Administrative Coordinator, the Human Resources Student is responsible for performing a variety of routine HR administrative duties in a highly confidential and customer focused environment to assist in the day-to-day operation of the Human Resources Department. This position serves as the back-up to the Human Resources Administrative Coordinator and Human Resources Assistant; and performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

This position is eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs grant program. To be eligible, youth must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  1. Currently enrolled in a relevant Human Resources Management program, or equivalent.
  2. General knowledge of human resources practices.
  3. Strong knowledge of computer software applications in a Windows environment including Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) and general office equipment.
  4. Experience with HRIS systems an asset.
  5. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  6. Ability to multi-task and strong organizational skills.
  7. Good interpersonal, and communication skills.
  8. Strong data entry and keyboarding skills.
  9. Attention to detail and accuracy when data entering, handling employee information and filing
  10. Must be customer service oriented and use tact and diplomacy to deal courteously and effectively with the public and employees.
  11. Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement particularly when handling confidential/sensitive information
