JOB ADVERT SUMMARY

TB HIV Care (THC), in existence since 1929, is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation. We provide health care services throughout South Africa to both the general population and communities at increased risk for HIV and TB, including adolescent girls and young women, sex workers and people who use drugs. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Matric certificate or equivalent NQF qualification.
  • Basic training on documentation of gender-based violence and human rights violations
  • Minimum of 1-2 years working experience in a similar role
  • Experience in working with people living with HIV/AIDS, Youth, Sex Work, and other key and vulnerable populations
  • Fluency in English, isiXhosa, Zulu and other South African languages
  • Clear criminal record

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Human Rights Ambassador works closely with community members, local service providers and community structures to sensitise them on human rights and human rights violations of key and vulnerable populations as part of the NACOSA Global Fund Human Rights Programme.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate community dialogues and campaigns to sensitise communities on the human rights of key and vulnerable populations and raise awareness on the need to report human rights violations Human rights defenders support and supervision
  • Refer and closely follow up reported cases to law clinics and other human rights referral agencies
  • Document beneficiary testimonies
  • Participate in community-based monitoring activities
  • Compile monthly/quarterly narrative report
  • Participate in district-level human rights hubs
